ABI Technik ( subtitle : magazine for automation, construction and technology in archives, library and information systems ) is a German-language library specialist journal with a focus on automation, construction and technology in the BID area . It was founded in 1981 by Rudolf Frankenberger (Director of the Augsburg University Library), Rolf Fuhlrott (Deputy Director of the Karlsruhe University Library), Werner Rittberger (scientific and technical director of the FIZ Energy, Physics Mathematics, Karlsruhe) and Peter Peter Schweigler (Director of the University Library of the Technical University of Munich; responsible editor-in-chief).

ABI Technik was published by Verlag Karlheinz Holz (Wiesbaden) from its foundation until the end of 1997, then by the Munich publisher Neuer Merkur until the end of 2010 . from the beginning of 2011 it will be published by the Berlin publisher De Gruyter Saur . The responsible editor-in-chief was Berndt Dugall from 1991 to 2015 and the university library Johann Christian Senckenberg from 1988 to 2013 ; Frankfurt directed. His successor is Konstanze Söllner (Erlangen Nuremberg University Library).

ABI Technik appears quarterly.

The articles in the journal consist of academic articles, communications and reviews and are written by professionals in the field of library science and archival studies . For example, it deals with issues relating to the preservation of holdings , library construction and the use of modern information systems .
