ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship

The ADCC ( Abu Dhabi Combat Club) Submission Wrestling World Championship was founded with the support of Sheiks Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan (ADCC President) and Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, son of the former President of the United Arab Emirates Zayid bin Sultan Al Nahyan . Since 1998 the ADCC has organized the Submission Wrestling World Championships, until 2001 they took place annually in Abu Dhabi. Then the event changed to a two-year rhythm and the venue was moved to different countries (Brazil 2003 and 2015, USA 2005 and 2007, Spain 2009, England 2011, China 2013).

Rules and Regulations

The championship is held in a knockout system, only the winner moves on to the next round.

Gi , kimono, and wrestling shoes are optional. The fighting area is 9 × 9 meters and is covered with mats. There is no kind of limitation, like cage or rope, to the fighting area. Should the fighters leave the fighting area, the fight is interrupted and continued in the same position as it was ended in the middle.

Permitted techniques:

Techniques not allowed:

  • Holding t-shirt or shorts
  • "Full Nelson" and "Crucifix"
  • Punches and kicks
  • Reaching in the eyes or other body openings
  • Grasping / pulling on the ears or hair
  • Scratching, biting, or pinching
  • Reaching the groin
  • Hands, knees, or elbows on the face
  • Sliding substances on body or clothing parts

Points:

Mount position = 2 points

Back mount with hooks = 3 points

Liberate from the guard = 3 points

Knee to stomach = 2 points

Clean sweeps = 4 points

Sweeps = 4 points

Clean takedowns (does not end in the guard) = 4 points

Takedowns (ends in the guard or half guard) = 2 points

  • Each position must be held for at least three seconds in order to get the points.
  • When changing to different positions, only those that have been held for at least three seconds are counted.
  • Counter attacks are counted as sweeps.

Punish:

  • If a fighter voluntarily changes to guard or from a standing position to a non-standing position for more than three seconds, he will be penalized with a minus point.
  • If a fighter constantly breaks away from contact and evades, he will be punished with a minus point.
  • A passive fighter is cautioned twice before being penalized with a minus point. The referee warns the passive fighter with the words: "WARNING PASSIVITY"

The winner is determined by:

  • Abandonment of the opponent, verbally or by tapping. Submission
  • If the referee is of the opinion that a fighter can no longer defend himself or his health is in danger, the fight is stopped.
  • If a fighter breaks the rules twice, he will be disqualified by the referee.

Men

  • up to 65 kg (lightweight)
  • 66 kg to 76 kg (welterweight)
  • 77 kg to 87 kg (cruiser weight)
  • 88 kg to 98 kg (Light-Heavyweight)
  • 99 kg and more (heavyweight)
  • Absolute class

Women

  • up to 60 kg
  • 60 kg and more

Fight time:

  • Qualifying rounds = 10 minutes
  • Finale = 20 minutes
  • 5 minutes extra in the event of a tie
