The accreditation agency in the field of health and social affairs (AHPGS) is an interdisciplinary organization whose main task is to offer Bachelor and Master degrees in the field of health and social affairs as well as in related and related fields of activity (program accreditation) and the internal control and quality assurance systems (system accreditation) to be accredited at universities , technical colleges , teacher training colleges as well as art and music colleges .

The AHPGS is in regular information exchange with other national and international accreditation agencies as well as with representatives of universities and professional practice. The aim of the AHPGS is to support quality assurance , academization and professionalization of the health and social professions.

The AHPGS is a registered non-profit association founded in 2001, which is supported by the departmental days or dean conferences of curative education , nursing , health and social work , representatives of the scientific specialist societies as well as by relevant professional , specialist and sponsoring associations from the relevant fields of action and by private individuals becomes. The cooperation with scientific societies, representatives of practice organizations and employers such as charities and municipal associations ensures a balance of interests in the agency.

The association was first accredited on December 17, 2001 by the Accreditation Council for a period of three years. Since then she has been reaccredited twice, currently until 2019.

On January 17, 2008, the association was recognized by the Swiss Federal Department of Economics, Education and Research to examine accreditation applications from universities of applied sciences on behalf of the department. In the approval process, the association has proven that the federal legal requirements and the European standards for accreditation agencies are met. In addition, the approval notice dated March 9, 2015 entitles the association to conduct audits at universities and technical colleges in Austria in accordance with Section 22 (2) of the Austrian Quality Assurance Act.

On June 12, 2009 the association was awarded full membership of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education . On September 30, 2009 the association was included in the 'European Quality Assurance Register' (EQAR). AHPGS has been a member of the "International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education" (INQAAHE) since November 5, 2009 and a member of the "Network of Central and Eastern European Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education" (CEENQA) since January 6, 2012 ).
