The AK-725 (the abbreviation AK stands for Артиллерийский комплекс (Artillerijskij kompleks; German: artillery complex)) or the ZIF-72 was a fully automatic double-barreled naval gun from Soviet production.
The cannon was intended for use against warships and for coastal fire. She had, in contrast to comparable guns of NATO a slightly smaller caliber, but a very high cadence of 200 rounds per minute. The ammunition was fed via belts. The MR-103 "Bars" radar system ( NATO code name : Muff Cob) was used as the fire control system . In an emergency, however, the gun could also be operated by hand.
The AK-725 was produced from 1956 to 1988 and used by the Soviet Navy as well as the other Warsaw Pact naval forces .
