AM-1 is a globular cluster of the outer halo in the constellation Horologium, about 400,000 light years away . The globular cluster was first cataloged by Holmberg in 1975 as part of the ESO / Uppsala Survey ; Shortly afterwards, Lauberts reported on the extraordinary distance. Its name in use today goes back to a later study by Arp and Madore.
