The team Kuortane is a woman ice hockey team , which based on 2010 APV Kuortane was founded and since then in the top division of Finland, Naisten SM-sarja , participates.
history
The women's team from APV from Alavus took part in the second-rate Naisten I-divisioona game from 2002 and played its home games in Kuortane . Therefore, the team played as APV Kuortane . In 2009, the team succeeded - the Helsinki Chamber of Industry and Commerce withdrew from playing - the promotion from the second to the first division.
In 2010 the Finnish Ice Hockey Federation launched an initiative to promote women's and girls' sports. Based on the APV Kuortane team, the Kuortane team was founded, some of whose players live and train in the Kuortane Olympic Training Center . Some of the players are also studying at the Kuortane Sports University, while others are in training.
Three players - Eveliina Suonpää , Anna Kilponen and Vilma Tanskanen - and coach Jari Risku from the Kuortane team took part in the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Between 2010 and 2014, the cosmetics company Oriflame was the team's name sponsor.
Since 2016 the APV from Alavaus has been participating in the Naisten Mestis games again.
