The Museum of Contemporary Art ART4.RU ( Russian Музей актуального искусства ART4.RU) is an art museum with Russian art from the second half of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century. The museum was opened in the summer of 2007 by multimillionaire Igor Markin . With around 1200 works by Russian painters , Markin's Gallery is Russia's first private museum . The Markin Museum measures 600 square meters and is located on Khlynovsky Alley on Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street ( Bely Gorod ), near the Arbatskaya and Okhotny Ryad metro stations . The works of the Russian avant-garde are mainly represented in Art4. There you can look at numerous different pictures, photos and installations: conceptualists like Boris Mikhailov or Erik Bulatow are mixed here with younger pop art. From Semion Faibisovich there are works from the final stages of the Soviet era to provocative and subversive works by Kulik , Sokov, Savadov, Kosolapov and the tryptiches of Purygins.
