Igor Nikolajewitsch Markin ( Russian Игорь Николаевич Маркин ; * 1967 in Moscow ) is a Russian entrepreneur and art collector who is one of the 50 most influential personalities on the domestic art scene.

Life

Igor Markin studied radio engineering at the Moscow Electrotechnical Institute of Telecommunications . After learning to be an engineer in the 1990s, he worked for a few months at a research institute . But later he decided to change his profession. In 1993, together with his former fellow student Konstantin Prokofjew ( Russian Константин Прокофьев ) he founded his group of companies under the name "PROMA" (today "PROPLEX"), which he made the market leader in Russian window profile manufacture in the following years. Igor Markin was even called the plastic king of Moscow. He is now a passionate collector of modern art and has built a museum in the Russian capital where around 1,000 works by Russian painters can be seen. Igor Markin is divorced and has four children.
