The ATP tournament in Merano (officially Merano Open ) is a former men's tennis tournament that was held once in 1999. It replaced the Bologna tournament in the tour calendar and, like this one, was played outdoors on a clay court. The date was also adopted, the Merano Open took place in the week before Wimbledon .
The tournament was part of the ATP International Series , the predecessor of the ATP World Tour 250 . With the end of the tournament after only one year, the tradition came to an end that clay court tournaments were held between Roland Garros and Wimbledon; since then, only lawn tournaments have taken place during this period.
