The Academic Association Curiensis is a mixed student association that was founded in Chur in 1868 as a theological association. She is a member of the Swiss Student Association (Schw.-StV).

Connection history

The connection was established in the late autumn of 1868. The exact date of foundation is not known. During the first time there were repeated problems with the house management, which sometimes ended in a ban. In 1873 the connection was re-established. This is the beginning of a regular and very active section work, which is particularly evident in the treatment of the Old Catholics question in the Swiss Student Union (Schw.-StV). At the General Assembly in Zug on September 11, 1873, the Chur section officially submitted the application to define the Schw.-StV as a clearly “Catholic” association. After a heated discussion, this proposal from Chur was approved almost unanimously. However, the association lost interest again and was re-established in 1910 under the name Rhenania .

In 1915 the first representative of Rhenania (Alois Bünter from Schwyz) is elected to the Central Committee (CC). In 1919/20 the connection made an aid campaign for Viennese students. In 1922 the connection name was changed from "Rhenania" to "Curiensis" and the motto was changed from "fortes et fideles" to "tonitrua non terrent". The flag consecration took place on June 13, 1922. The Alt-Curiensis was founded in 1928. From 1930 the Curiensis campaigned for the canonization of Brother Klaus . In 1945/46 the Curiensis carried out a large-scale aid campaign for Austrian theology students, followed by an aid campaign for Hungary in 1956. In 1958, the association organized a fundraising for Protestants in need.

In 2012 Aktivitas was reactivated. An amendment to the statutes enables students from all universities in Chur to become members.

Cap and ribbon are called colors. The hat, also called Couleur , is red and embroidered with the connecting circle. The boys wear a red-white-green ribbon and the foxes a red-green ribbon.
