A Good Heart is a song that was written by the American singer Maria McKee and was a great hit parade in 1985 with the artist Feargal Sharkey .
background
Maria McKee, then 19, wrote the text. The song addresses McKee's failed relationship with musician Benmont Tench , founding member and keyboardist of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers , who was performing with McKee's band Lone Justice at the time .
It wasn't until 2007 that a version of their own track sung by McKee appeared on the album Late December .
Version of Feargal Sharkey
The title became known worldwide through the interpretation of Feargal Sharkey . The title was produced by David A. Stewart , the musical head of the Eurythmics . Sharkey's version was number one on the British charts for two weeks in late 1985 and also topped Australia, New Zealand and the Netherlands in early 1986. In numerous other countries, including Germany, Switzerland and Canada, the title reached the top ten.

The song You Little Thief , written by Benmont Tench , is believed to be Benmont Tench's answer to A Good Heart . The title was also sung by Feargal Sharkey and reached the top 5 in the UK and Australia.
