A Million Lights (German: One Million Lights ) is the third studio album by British singer Cheryl . It was produced from 2011 to 2012. The album was released in the UK on June 15, 2012 and reached number 2 on the British and Irish charts and number 1 in Scotland.

Background information

Cheryl Cole started work on her album in July 2011 in Los Angeles . According to his own statements, it was very important for Cole to work with new and unknown producers, as they would be more open to new sounds and try out a lot more. Over 50 songs were created during the production of the album. By the end of 2011, various collaborations were known, including with Far East Movement , Will.i.am , Taio Cruz , Alex da Kid and Lana Del Rey . In May 2012, a collaboration with the British rapper Wretch 32 became known. In an interview with Digital Spy, Cole said that she thought this album was her best yet. In April 2012 she also announced that she would drop her surname "Cole" and only publish music under her first name Cheryl .

Like their two previous albums, A Million Lights was musically influenced by genres such as dance-pop , pop and R&B , but also by other genres such as dubstep , to be heard in the song Love Killer, among others . The song Screw You , a duet with rapper Wretch 32, represents a settlement with Coles' ex-husband Ashley Cole . The last song she recorded for her album was Sexy Den a Mutha . Lana Del Rey and Will.i.am can be heard as backing vocals on some of the songs.
