A Submarine Pirate is a 1915 American short film directed by Syd Chaplin who also played the lead role.
action
An unnamed waiter overhears a conversation in his restaurant between two guests - an inventor and his partner - who are planning to use a submarine to rob a passenger ship and steal a cargo of gold .
The waiter decides to carry out the robbery himself. He disguises himself as a naval officer and dupes the crew of the submarine. They stop the passenger steamer on the high seas, but the radio operator manages to alert a warship via radio telegraphy . The captain of the passenger ship finally shoots the pirates, who then fled the steamer. Back on the submarine, the waiter discovers that he has lost a device on board the steamer that is needed for the submarine's dive. Since the boat is no longer submersible, it is shot at by the approaching warship. The end is open; the waiter sticks his head out of a porthole underwater and a large fish bites him in the head.
Production notes
