The Aachener Straße is a street in Dusseldorf .

Location and history

The street connects the districts of Bilk and Flehe . It begins south of the Mönchengladbach – Düsseldorf railway line on the central Friedrichstrasse and runs from there in a south-westerly direction through the districts of Bilk and Flehe. It crosses the southern Düssel and crosses the southern ring . In the area of the intersection with Fleher Straße, it forms Aachener Platz.

The street has a predominantly closed, multi-storey peripheral development. The eaves height decreases steadily towards the southwest. The appearance is inconsistent as a result of the destruction in World War II. Many buildings have been completely or partially renewed.

A school building (no. 39) from the years 1904/05 and an urban housing estate from 1925 in the area of the numbers 112–124 are listed as historical monuments.

The U72 light rail line (formerly 712) runs along Aachener Straße along its entire length.
