The Abaisteppe ( Russian Абайская степь ) is a valley steppe in the central Altai between the foothills of the Cholsun in the southwest and the Terekta ridge in the northeast. The steppe extends at an altitude of about 1100 meters with a length of 25 kilometers and a width between 6 and 9 kilometers. It is irrigated by the rivers Koksa , Abai and Aksas from the Katun basin and has typical steppe vegetation. In the northwest and western parts there are swamp plains . Most of the steppe is used for agriculture .
