Abbruch is a German punk band from Gosen-Neu Zittau , Brandenburg . It was founded in 2004 and belongs to the genres funpunk and german punk .
Band history
The two brothers René and Daniel Behrendt came to music at an early age through their parents. Her parents were conductors and her mother, who is also a member of the band, offers musical employment. The two brothers learned the recorder , piano and guitar at an early age . They later became interested in punk and, under the influence of Die Ärzte and Die Toten Hosen , they founded Abbruch on May 21, 2004 together with drummer René Hardt. The first demo CD was created within three weeks and was sold at concerts in and around Berlin. In 2005 the band took part in the Rock Oder-Spree band competition for the first time and came in fifth. A year later they repeated their participation and won third place. This gave them the opportunity to record in a professional studio and allowed them to take part in the competition sampler.
The band then recorded 35 songs on their own, of which the oldest 16 came on the first album Einfach nur Musik . With the finished master tape , the band then went to Puke Music , who also released the album. The band gained further notoriety through their participation in the Force Attack festival . Actually not booked, the band set up their equipment at the Puke Music stand and started playing. A recording was later posted on YouTube . In 2011, Puke Music released her second album Aus dem Keller .
During the preparation of the third album Neverland , there were differences of opinion between their label and the band. Abbruch then recorded the third album alone and released it through their own record company Abbruch Records. The renowned punk label Impact Records took over the distribution .
In 2015, the album Bunt is Better was released , which the group was able to release via Impact Records.
In 2018 her last album "Lieber leftextrem" was released on vinyl and CD.
Music genre
Originally got into punk through Die Ärzte and Die Toten Hosen, but today bands like No Exit are also among her influences. Musically one moves mainly in the German punk of the 1990s. Not all songs are held in the typical punk style, but individual songs also contain influences from soft rock , folk and pop music through to hard rock and heavy metal . Their music is also characterized by often unpredictable changes in tempo and key. In this way, a waltz rhythm can alternate with the usual clatter. The band also uses elements that are not typical of the genre, such as strings, trumpet and piano (played by mother Sylvia Behrendt). Even if the band is not a fan of categories, the band is often assigned to fun punk. The pieces are socially critical and deal with various topics, from killer games to the fight against Nazis and fascism, surveillance and the pursuit of freedom. The serious content is often presented in an entertaining and ironic way.
