Abdallah Wafy (* 1955 ) is a Nigerien diplomat .

Life

Abdallah Wafy studied law at the Université du Bénin in Lomé , where he obtained a maîtrise en droit . He also graduated as a police commissioner from the École nationale supérieure de la police in Saint-Cyr-au-Mont-d'Or .

Wafy worked from 1981 to 1985 in various managerial positions in the Nigerien police, such as director of the national police school and as administrative and financial director. He then worked as a manager in business for ten years. President Ibrahim Baré Maïnassara appointed him his security advisor in 1997.

After the fall of Baré Maïnassara, Abdallah Wafy was sent abroad. From 1999 to 2003 he worked as Niger's ambassador to Libya and at the same time as Niger's permanent representative to the community of the Sahel-Sahara countries . After coordinating a project on computerized ID cards in Niger, among other things, Wafy was employed by the civilian police of the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (ONUCI) from 2006 to 2007 . He was then President of the Disciplinary Commission of the Niger Police and at the same time advisor to Interior Minister Albadé Abouba on security and decentralization issues.

Wafy served as police chief of the United Nations Mission for Stabilization in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) from 2010 to 2013 . From 2013 to 2015 he was deputy head of MONUSCO. Martin Kobler was in charge of the mission during this period . From 2015 Wafy was Niger's permanent representative to the United Nations as the successor to Boubacar Boureima . He was appointed Niger's Ambassador to the United States in 2018, succeeding Hassana Alidou . Abarry Abdou took over his role as Permanent Representative to the United Nations .

Abdallah Wafy is married and has five children.
