Abdeslam Baraka

Abdeslam Baraka ( Arabic عبد السلام بركة, DMG ʿAbd as-Salām Baraka ; * 5. May 1955 in Tetouan ) is a Moroccan diplomat and politician of the Constitutional Union in retirement .

He is married and has two children.

Career

He obtained his university admission in Tétouan. In 1976 he graduated from the Mohammed V University in Rabat with a degree in law and practiced the profession of lawyer at the courts of his hometown.

In 1978 he joined the foreign service. From 1983 to 1992 he was elected president of the provincial assembly of Tétouan and Larache in 1984 and in 1993 he was elected to the Moroccan assembly of representatives for the constituency of Tétouan as a candidate for the Constitutional Union . From 1992 to 1997 he was elected mayor of Al Azhar Tétouan.

In 1994 he was a member of the National Commission of the Colloquium of Municipalities. From April 22, 1987 to August 11, 1992, he was Minister for Relations with the Assembly of Representatives in the Azzeddine Laraki government . In this role he replaces Tahar Afifi. From July 31, 1990 to August 1992, he was Minister for Affairs of the Arab Maghreb Union . From January 31, 1995 to August 13, 1997 he was Minister for Relations with the Assembly of Representatives in the Abdellatif Filali government and was replaced in this capacity by El Mostapha Sahel .

From February 25, 1998 to February 17, 2000 he was ambassador to Buenos Aires and from April 30, 1998 he was also accredited as ambassador to Montevideo .

From February 17, 2000 to October 30, 2004 he was ambassador to Madrid .

On March 9, 2013 he became ambassador to Riyadh , where Ibrahim Agouli had been chargé d'affaires since the death of Abdelkarim Semmar in 2009, the then Consul General of the Kingdom of Morocco in Jeddah .
