Abdullah Yaftali

Abdullah Yaftali (born May 6, 1914 in Kabul , † July 17, 2003 in California ), also Abdullah Yekta , was an Afghan politician .

Life

Abdullah Yaftali worked for the Da Afghanistan Bank from the 1940s and became its president in 1949. In the mid-1960s he was planning minister, then finance minister from 1965 and temporary prime minister of Afghanistan from October 11 to November 1, 1967 , after Mohammad Haschim Maiwandwal resigned for health reasons. After the resignation, the Afghan King Mohammed Sahir Shah appointed the previous minister of state as interim prime minister until a new government could be formed. The reforms that had already been largely carried out under his predecessor were completed during the reign. In November 1967 a Supreme Court for Afghanistan was established. Yaftali's successor as prime minister was Mohammad Nur Ahmad Etemadi .
