Abiskojaure ( Northern Sami Ábeskojávri ) is a lake in the Swedish Abisko National Park . The mountain lake is part of the hydrological upper reaches of the Torne älv , is 488 meters above sea level and has an area of 279 hectares. The maximum depth of the lake is 35 meters. The Kungsleden , one of the most important Swedish long-distance hiking trails, leads past Abiskojaure.
The birds found at Abiskojaure include the velvet duck ( Melanitta fusca ), the common scoter ( Melanitta nigra ), the long-tailed duck ( Clangula hyemalis ), the black-throated diver ( Gavia arctica ) and various waders (Charidrii).
The elk ( Alces alces ) lives by the lake .
The Svenska Turistföreningen hiking hut of the same name is located on the southern shore of the lake .
