Aboubacar Somparé

El Hadj Aboubacar Somparé (born August 31, 1944 in Boké ; † November 2, 2017 in Conakry ) was a Guinean politician and provisional President of Guinea from December 22, 2008 to December 24, 2008.

Somparé was the Ambassador of the Republic of Guinea to France between 1978 and 1984 . From 1987 to 1989 he was rector of the Université de Conakry . In April 1997 he was elected general secretary of the ruling Parti de l'Unité et du Progrès (PUP). Three months after the parliamentary elections in June 2002, Somparé was elected President of the Guinean National Assembly on September 23, 2002.

In this capacity, according to the constitution, he should have temporarily assumed office for 60 days after the death of President Lansana Conté on December 22, 2008, but the military put on a coup immediately after Conté's death.
