Michael Caspar Lundorp

Michael Caspar Lundorp (also: Nicolaus Bellus, Gregor Erhardi; * around 1580 in Frankfurt am Main ; † September 24, 1629 there ) was a German historian and writer.

Life

Caspar Lundorp's son received his first education in his hometown school. He possibly completed a degree at the University of Marburg and the University of Wittenberg , returned to Frankfurt in 1604 and became a teacher at the grammar school there the following year. In that year he made the acquaintance of Melchior Goldast , with whom he was working on an edition of Petronius. After he was removed from his teaching post in 1607, he became a writer, developing a lively activity for twenty years as a journalist, publicist, philologist and historian. The Acta publica , a collection of documents from contemporary history since the beginning of the Thirty Years War , which has seen several revisions, is considered to be his main work .
