Abraham Fresco (also Frisco, Frisko, Fresko, Prisko, born June 20, 1903 in The Hague , † November 19, 1942 in Auschwitz concentration camp ) was a Dutch painter of Jewish descent.

Fresko was born the son of Leon Fresko and Margaret Blitz. He had a brother Simon and a sister Annie.

Since he already showed his talent in elementary school, he began his studies of painting at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, and continued it at the Reich Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam with Johannes Hendricus Jurres, Antoon Derkinderen and Nicolaas van der Waay away. After completing his studies, he settled in The Hague as a painter.

Fresco initially worked as a portrait painter, later he dealt with genre paintings, landscapes, still lifes and, above all, urban landscapes.

He often visited Scheveningen and other places in the Netherlands and Belgium. There he painted both calm views and lively folk festivals. He painted in the aesthetic of post-impressionism .

Fresko was married to Deborah Engländer in 1928, with whom he had a daughter Marga in 1929. After the German invasion of the Netherlands , the family was arrested in 1942 and murdered in Auschwitz on November 19, 1942.

His works are in the collections of the Jewish Historical Museum in Amsterdam .
