Abraham Speijer (born November 19, 1873 in Amsterdam , † September 5, 1956 there ) was a Dutch chess master .
At the beginning of the 20th century, Speijer was one of the best chess players in the Netherlands. During this time he took part in a number of important international tournaments , including in Hilversum 1903, where Speijer was fourth, in Saint Petersburg 1909, Hamburg 1910, Scheveningen 1913. In 1908 he lost a short competition in Amsterdam against the then world champion Emanuel Lasker with 0, 5-2.5.
Speijer won the first Dutch national championship with Adolf Olland in Leiden in 1909 with 5 points from 8 games, but Olland was declared champion because he had defeated Speijer in the direct encounter. Speijer has not appeared in chess since the mid-1920s.
