Absberg tunnel

The Absberg Tunnel in Vienna's 10th district of Favoriten was created by over-plating an approximately 220-meter-long section of the south-east bypass . The settlement and residential area Monte Laa was built on the building land obtained in this way .

The Vienna Südosttangente, which was built in this section in the lower elevation, cut a piece of land in the possession of the Porr construction company and used as a storage area in two halves.
In order to be able to utilize this plot of land, Porr developed the plan to paver the south-east bypass and thereby create building land. An additional benefit for the neighbors in this section was increased immission and noise protection.
To implement the project, Porr bought the relevant section of the motorway from the Republic of Austria and built it over with a two-cell frame structure, each 16 meters wide and around 220 meters long. During the construction work carried out in 2001 and 2002, due to the heavy traffic load, three lanes had to be passable in each direction. Traffic restrictions were only permitted during the night. The further public use of this section of the motorway is regulated by a servitude contract between Porr and the federal government.
After the plating had been completed in December 2002, a company-owned bridge, which had connected the two parts of the property and was built as a glued and prestressed structure, was demolished as part of a research contract from the Reinforced Concrete Institute of the Vienna University of Technology .
