The Accademia Barocca Lucernensis (ABL) is a Swiss baroque ensemble founded in Lucerne in 2014 , which specializes in historically informed performance practice .

The Swiss baroque ensemble Accademia Barocca Lucernensis was founded in 2014 in Lucerne by the Spanish conductor Javier Ulises Illán and the cultural manager Martin Caduff . Consisting of a baroque orchestra, a professional choir as well as regular soloists and conductors, the ensemble has played concerts with music from the baroque era in several Swiss cities.

As an ensemble of young musicians, the ABL released its first CD album (Sacred Music For Dresden Cathedral) with works by Jan Dismas Zelenka and Johann Adolph Hasse in April 2019 on the Pan Classics label. With this album, the ABL was nominated in two categories for the Opus Klassik 2019. The album was also presented on BBC Radio 3 , among others .

In March 2020, the baroque ensemble made its debut with JS Bach's St. John Passion in the concert hall of the KKL Luzern , with the internationally acclaimed tenor Mauro Peter singing the evangelist . The ABL's St. John Passion was also recorded by Radio SRF 2 Kultur , the recording was broadcast on Radio NDR Kultur , Rai Radio 3 and Radio SRF 2 .
