Accordance is Bible software from OakTree Software for studying the Bible .

history

Roy Brown, the chairman of OakTree Software and application developer, created ThePerfectWord in 1988, one of the first Bible programs for the Macintosh. ThePerfectWord was later acquired by another company and renamed MacBible. There were a number of good Bible-studying programs for the Mac in the early 1990s . However, Brown saw the need for a new program that would enable more sophisticated styles of Bible study so that scholars and pastors could conduct in-depth studies of the basic Greek and Hebrew texts of the Bible. Accordance 1 was released in February 1994 and was recognized for its performance and ease of use.

A rewritten version of Accordance 5 that ran natively on macOS (then Mac OS X) was released in early 2002. Since then, the company has continuously improved the software and added functions such as the native Quartz rendering system . With Accordance 8, the Universal Binary Version for Intel-based Macs was introduced in May 2008 . Version 9 was released in September 2010. Accordance 10 with extensive innovations was released in August 2012. On September 30, 2013, an independent Windows version of Accordance was released for the first time.

Accordance was released on December 30, 2010 as a free app for iOS . A version for Android has also been available since 2018 .
