Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception ( Japanese エ ー ス コ ン バ ッ ト X ス カ イ ・ オ ブ ・ デ セ プ シ ョ ン , Ēsu Conbatto Ekkusu Sukai Obu Desepushon ) is an arcade airplane game from Namco . The game was released on PSP in 2006 . It is the seventh part of the Ace Combat series , the first part of the series on the PSP and, alongside Ace Combat Advance, the second for a handheld .

To the game

The game is about a war in a world that exists parallel to ours. Since the commander Diego Gaspar Navarro from Leasath has conquered almost all of Aurelia , you have to recapture everything as a player. You play the pilot and hope of the nation Gryphus 1 .

There are several paths you can take to win the war. With the decisions you make (e.g. going to point A first and then to point B ), you change the war. Every mission makes money. Depending on how many opponents you shot down or how good you were, there is more or less money in the end. The aircraft for the mission can be freely chosen as long as it is already purchased. When all thirty missions are managed, there is an additional mission operation X .

Planes

The available aircraft in Ace Combat X are composed of real aircraft, prototypes, experimental aircraft and completely fictional machines. You unlock planes by completing missions. When planes are unlocked, you can buy them with the money you have earned and equip them with weapons that can also be bought. Fictional aircraft can be tuned.

Reviews

Reviews of Ace Combat X were mixed. Among other things, it was praised that the title is a completely independent game and not just a port of an earlier Playstation 2 title. The interesting story and the possibility of influencing it with your own decisions were also praised. The otherwise positively received multiplayer mode was criticized for the lack of online support. Other points of criticism were that the part did not have enough innovations to significantly improve the series and that the control via PSP Analog-Nub was not very comfortable. On Metacritic , the title has an average rating of 75%.
