The Acheron Lake ( English ; Bulgarian езеро Ахерон esero Archeron ) is a south-west-northeast orientation 315 m long, 186 m wide and 4.4 hectares large lake on Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . On the Byers Peninsula , it is 1 km south of Point Smellie , 1 km west-northwest of Wasp Hill and 1.9 km northeast of Devils Point on President Beaches . From Osogovo Bay , the lake, towered over by the Lucifer Crags and reminiscent of the letter B when viewed from above, is separated by a strip of land between 10 and 25 m wide.
The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in 2020 after the Greek river Acheron .
