Achille Perilli

Achille Perilli (born January 28, 1927 in Rome , Italy; lives in Turin , Italy ) is an Italian painter and graphic artist . He is one of the most important representatives of abstract painting after the Second World War .

Life

Achille Perilli is, along with Carla Accardi , Ugo Attardi , Pietro Consagra , Piero Dorazio , Mino Guerrini , Antonio Sanfilippo and Giulio Turcato, co-author of the manifesto of formalism : " Forma 1 ", which turned against every form of representational art and the declared pure form the means and goal of art. On this basis, the signatories founded the artist group " Forma 1 ".

Perilli's pictures often contain cubic forms, which on closer inspection and change of perspective turn out to be multilayered and multi-dimensional. He calls his art " geometrically irrational ."

Achille Perilli had his first solo exhibition in the Galleria La Tartaruga in Rome in 1957. His art had international relevance. He was a participant in documenta 2 in Kassel in 1959 and in the XXXI. and XXXIV. Venice Biennale (1964 and 1970) Perilli participates and organizes numerous exhibitions of abstract art in Italy. He had many solo exhibitions, especially in the well-known Italian Galleria Studio F. regularly from 1980 to 1998.
