Achille Sannia (born April 14, 1822 in Campobasso , † February 8, 1892 in Naples ) was an Italian mathematician and senator.

Life

Sannia had a private mathematics school in Naples, which during the Kingdom of Naples enjoyed a higher reputation than the university. In 1865 he became a professor of projective geometry at the University of Naples .

He was a member of the Accademia Pontaniana in Naples and the Accademia dei XL . Sannia was a member of the Camera dei deputati in the 13th (1876-1880) and 16th legislative periods (1886-1890) and was from 1890 senator . He was Grand Officer of the Order of the Crown of Italy and Commander of the Knightly Order of St. Mauritius and Lazarus .

The mathematician Enrico D'Ovidio was his nephew and attended his school. With him he wrote a popular geometry textbook.
