Achim Hubel

Achim Wolfgang Hubel (born February 20, 1945 in Sünching ) is a German art historian and emeritus professor of monument preservation .

Life

In 1964, Hubel began studying art history, classical archeology, historical auxiliary sciences and Catholic theology in Regensburg and Munich . In 1972 he received his doctorate in art history from the University of Munich. After various activities as a scientific volunteer, he took up the position of diocesan curator of the diocese of Regensburg in 1974 . Since then, Hubel has been researching the Regensburg Cathedral . In 1981 he became professor for monument preservation at the University of Bamberg . On April 1, 2011, he retired.

Hubel has been a member of the ICOMOS expert group for the monitoring of world heritage sites in Germany since 2000 .
