Eight-liner
An eight Zeiler (also octet ) is in the Verslehre an eight verses existing Strophen- or a poem .
Specific forms are:
- in Celtic poetry: Cyhydedd Hir
- in Old Norse poetry: Dróttkvætt and Fornyrðislag
- in Middle High German poetry: Nibelungenstrophe , derived from Hildebrand's tone and the Heunenweise as its special form
- in Italian poetry: punch and its special form Siciliane
- in French poetry: huitain and triolet
