Acme Markets is a US supermarket chain headquartered in Malvern , Pennsylvania . It operates approximately 140 supermarkets in the states of Delaware , Maryland , New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The chain competes with Safeway 's Genuardi's and Wal-Mart supercenters in the food and drug store in the Philadelphia area .
Acme Markets also offers online grocery stores in the Philadelphia area and four New Jersey counties . Buyers have to pay $ 4.95 to collect their goods from the supermarket and $ 9.95 to have them delivered to their homes.
Acme Markets was founded in 1891. In 2000, the chain was taken over by competitor Albertsons , but continues to operate under the old name Acme Markets. Since the takeover, it forms the northeast region of Albertsons.
