As action photography or motion photography refers to the pictures or record movements and dynamic processes.

application

Applications are for example in the sports and event photography, wildlife photography , the nude photography , the documentary photography , the natural and environmental photography , detention of emotions, documented by scientific experiments and photography of technical equipment and transport equipment. Photos taken on a ride are also known as onride photos .

Technology and photography

Photographers need to react quickly, keep a steady hand, and be focused while working. The visible movement can generate dynamic images. The most common and simplest form of this form of photography is freezing movement using a fast shutter speed. This decides how quickly a moving subject is shown in the photo. The longer the shutter speed, the longer the movement will be captured in the image. Behaviorally long shutter speeds are used to deliberately blur the objects and actors or the background. The aperture affects the depth of field . A reflex camera with a telephoto lens is recommended as the minimum equipment . Compact cameras and superzooms are usually unsuitable for action photography. The reason is that they trigger too late and rustle too violently in poor light. Alternatively, high-quality mirrorless system cameras are also suitable , as these often have fast release rates. Wide-angle or standard lenses can be used in addition to telephoto lenses, for example for photography under the basketball hoop. On the camera, the mode should be switched to sport, movement, action or the like, or the manual mode should be used for individual adjustments.

There are special action cameras or action cams for taking such photos or videos , which are better designed to capture dynamic processes. In addition, there are brackets for these, e.g. for a helmet, sportswear, drones or a vehicle, as well as options for hiding the camera as inconspicuously as possible. Most of these are protected against environmental influences , such as vibrations , against moisture or dust or when used at high or low temperatures or underwater. The most famous action camera is the GoPro . This camera is mostly used by athletes or web video producers to record the process live without having to constantly hold the camera.
