Ada Kretzer-Hartl

Ada Kretzer-Hartl (born November 21, 1897 in Munich ; † May 5, 1963 in Braunschweig ) was a German author for children and young people.

Life

Ada Kretzer-Hartl was born as Ada Hartl. Under the pseudonym Ada Kretzer-Hartl, she wrote numerous books for children and young people, including the Mara and Gabi series, which were popular around 1950 but began in the prewar period. At that time, the volumes were published by Hans-Jörg-Fischer-Verlag, later Boje Verlag , and were illustrated by Lotte Oldenburg-Wittig and R. Pfennigwerth. The first volumes of the Gabi series from the post-war period were provided with illustrations by Barbara Beyreiß and were published by Westermann . The poems The Shepherd , And I Love Me and The Hazel Bush were set to music by the Braunschweig composer Hanns Löhr in 1942 .

A copy of the book Mara knows what she wants is in the German Historical Museum .
