Adair Crawford
Adair Crawford (* 1748 ; † July 29, 1795 in Lymington ) was a Scottish-Irish chemist.
He was a professor at the Royal Military Academy . He also practiced at times in St Thomas' Hospital .
Crawford was involved in the discovery of the element strontium in 1790 together with William Cruickshank . He was a pioneer in the field of calorimetry . Here he influenced Alessandro Volta .
In 1785 he was elected a member of the American Philosophical Society . In 1787 he became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh .
