Adalbert I (Tuscany)

Adalbert I (* before 846; † after May 27, 884 ) was Margrave of Tuscany and tutor of Corsica from the House of Bonifacius . He was the son of Count Boniface II of Lucca . He owned large estates in Provence.

Adalbert was married twice: in the first marriage to Anonsuara and in the second marriage (before April 25, 875) to Rothilde, the sister of Duke Lambert of Spoleto . His successor Adalbert II and another son Boniface came from this connection .

Adalbert fought against the Saracens. He appeared as envoy of Emperor Ludwig II in the dispute over the successor to Pope Leo IV and tried in 878 together with Lambert von Spoleto to force the recognition of Karlmann as emperor by Pope John VIII, who was imprisoned in the city of Leo .
