Adam Michael Casey (born May 1, 1986 in Sydney ) is an Australian football player .
Club career
Casey grew up in Canberra , where he was accepted into the ACT Academy of Sport before training at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in 2003 . After completing his training at AIS, Casey joined the O'Connor Knights who played in the ACT Premier League . The 2004/05 season he completed with the Belconnen Blue Devils in the New South Wales Premier League . After Belconnen was suspended from league operations, he played for a short time with the Wollongong Wolves before accepting an offer from the A-League club New Zealand Knights .
After eight league appearances for the New Zealand Knights, Casey moved to league rivals Sydney FC at the end of January 2007 and signed a two-year contract.
National team
During his time at AIS Casey established himself as a regular player in the Australian U-17 selection , with which he was able to qualify for the U-17 World Cup in Finland in 2003 . At the final tournament Casey played as a striker over the full distance in all three preliminary round games, but remained in the three defeats without a goal.
In 2007 Casey completed a game for the Olympic selection in qualifying for the 2008 Olympic Games , but was not considered for the final tournament.
