The New Zealand Knights FC soccer club from Auckland , New Zealand was the first professional soccer team in New Zealand.

history

She played in the 2005/06 and 2006/07 seasons in the 2005 newly created Hyundai A-League , the Australian professional league. In both seasons they took eighth and last place in the table, in the eternal table of the A-League they are also in last place with only 25 points from 42 games. In total, only six wins were achieved in both seasons.

Poor athletic performance, a low number of spectators and financial problems finally led to the Australian Association's license being withdrawn in December 2006. The New Zealand Association took over the team provisionally until the end of the season, then the New Zealand Knights were dissolved. After long negotiations, New Zealand's place in the A-League could be held, and Wellington Phoenix from Wellington was accepted as the new representative of New Zealand .
