Joshua Rose (born December 16, 1981 in Rockhampton ) is an Australian football player . The midfielder has been under contract with Australian club Melbourne City FC since 2016 .

Career

Rose began his career in 2001 in the National Soccer League (NSL) with the Brisbane Strikers . Until the setting of the NSL after the 2003/04 season Rose reached the play-offs twice with Brisbane, but failed both times in the elimination final . In 2005 he moved to the New Zealand Knights , who participated in the newly founded A-League . Rose played for the Knights twelve times in the disastrous 2005/06 season, which the club finished with only six points as a knocked-off bottom of the table. In the summer of 2006, the midfielder moved with his teammate Josh Maguire to the Romanian first division club Universitatea Craiova , where at that time Josh Mitchell and Michael Baird were already two other Australians in the squad. In 2010 he returned to the Australian A-League and joined the Central Coast Mariners . With the Mariners, Rose reached the championship final in 2011 , but was lost on penalties against Brisbane Roar . In the 2012/13 season he was with the club of Australian champions. He and his team could not build on this success in the next few years. The 2015/16 season ended in last place. He then moved to Melbourne City FC .
