Adam Józef Jezierski (born February 5, 1948 in Kalisz ) is a Polish chemist specializing in physical chemistry and molecular spectroscopy . Since September 2016 he has been the rector of the University of Wroclaw .

Life

Adam Jezierski grew up in Kalisz, where he attended elementary school and the Adam Asnyk high school. Adam Jezierski studied at the Department of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at the University of Wroclaw and graduated in 1970 with a master's degree. In 1978 he received his doctorate under Bogusława Jeżowska-Trzebiatowska , and ten years later he received his habilitation in chemistry . From 1990 to 1996 he was Vice Dean of the Department of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at the University of Wroclaw, after a reorganization he held this position again from 1999 to 2005. From 1995 Jezierski taught as a professor of chemistry and received a full professorship in 2000. In 2008, he became Vice-Rector for Scientific Research and International Cooperation. In 2016 Adam Jezierski became rector of the University of Wroclaw. His regular term of office ends in 2020; re-election is not possible for reasons of age.

Adam Jezierski is married to the chemist Julia Jezierska , they have a son and a daughter.

Scientific work

Jezierski's work focuses on soil protection, waste recycling and research into physical-chemical methods for environmental research . For the latter, he is doing research on magnetic resonance imaging and the use of electron spin resonance in investigations into the influence of chemical and biological factors on cell membranes . His publications include over 130 writings in international journals and books and he has given lectures at various foreign universities.
