Tomasz Michalak

Tomasz Michalak (* 1940 in Krakow ; † July 10, 1986 in Newark / New Jersey ) was a Polish violinist and conductor.

Michalak studied violin with Irena Dubiska and conducting with Stanisław Wisłocki at the Warsaw Music Academy . He was the winner of several Polish and international music festivals and violin competitions (Poznan, Moscow, Geneva) and played an instrument made by the Czech violin maker Vladimír Pilař . As a conductor he recorded Henryk Wieniawski's violin concertos with violinist Vadim Brodsky in Poland with the violinist Antoni Wit . In the last years of his life he worked as a conductor in the USA.
