Wadim Brodsky ( Ukrainian Вадим Адольфович Бродський , Polish Wadim Brodski , born April 24, 1950 in Kiev ) is a Ukrainian-Polish violinist and showman who has lived in Rome since 1986 .

Brodsky began taking violin lessons at the age of six. At the age of eleven he performed in the Kiev Philharmonic with the violin concerto by Dmitri Borissowitsch Kabalewski under the direction of the composer. As a student of Olha Parchomenko in Kiev and Dawid Fyodorowitsch Oistrach in Moscow , he won international violin competitions: Wieniawski Competition in Poznan in 1977, Premio Paganini in Genoa in 1984 and Tibor Varga Competition in Martigny (Switzerland) in 1984. In 1981 Brodsky settled in Warsaw and received Polish citizenship in 1996 .

Brodsky owns a violin by Gennaro Gagliano 1747. During the tour with Orchestra Simfonica di Savona in 1998 he used the violin "il cannone" by Guarneri del Gesù , the instrument by Niccolò Paganini . Wadim Brodsky gives concerts with many philharmonic orchestras. With concert and entertainment programs, he appears on Polish and Italian television and has made many records with classical and light music, including works by the Beatles , also with Brodski Jazz Quartet. He appeared as an actor in Polish comedies and a series film. In the music academy in Bydgoszcz he leads the violin class.
