Adamo Angelo Ruggiero (born June 9, 1986 in Mississauga , Ontario ) is a Canadian actor, best known for his roles as Marco Del Rossi in the teen series Degrassi: The Next Generation and as Nathan Stanford in the gay Christmas comedy A Surprise for the Party .

Career

Ruggiero began acting in various plays in and around Toronto as a child . In 2002 he got the role of Marco Del Rossi , a gay teen wrestling with his sexuality, in the Canadian teen series Degrassi: The Next Generation . Ruggiero starred in the series until 2008 and was also seen in the film Degrassi Goes Hollywood .

In December 2008 filming began for the gay Christmas comedy A Surprise for the Party, in which Ruggiero Nathan, friend of the main character Olaf Gunnunderson, plays. The film, which was released on DVD in 2009, is about Olaf's coming out to his parents at Christmas after Nathan stood in the door, who didn't know that Olaf , who was openly homosexual on campus , had n't told anyone about his homosexuality at home . Since 2008, Ruggiero is also moderator of The Next Star , a Canadian children's talent show.

In early 2009, Ruggiero was back on the theater stage in Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead , an off-Broadway comedy that premiered in Toronto's Six Degrees in March 2009.

Private life

Ruggiero's father, Tony, is from Italy, and he and his wife Amalie have another son.

As Ruggiero in January 2008 as a gay outed , he said. "I come from a traditional Italian family, but they are not so traditional that my homosexuality is a problem" Ruggiero is active in the gay movement, not only in Canada , but also in the USA, among others for the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and the Trevor Project .

Ruggiero lives in Toronto with his colleague Lauren Collins from Degrassi and attends York University .
