Mirza Abolhasan Khan Ilchi (also listed as Mirza Abu-al-Hassan Ilchi, Mirza Abdul Hassan Chan, Mirza Abu al-Hasan Khan Ilchi, Mirza Abdallah Hasan and Mirza Aboul Hassan Khan; * 1776 in Shiraz ; † August 4, 1846 ) a Persian writer, ambassador and foreign minister .

Life

Abolhassan Khan Ilchi was envoy from 1809 and foreign minister of Fath Ali Shah from 1823 . During his tenure as Ambassador to the Court of St James’s , the Franco-Persian Alliance broke up . His travelogue Heyratnameh was translated by Joseph von Hammer-Purgstall in Vienna and served as a template for the fictional presentation The Adventures of Hadschi Baba from Isfahan .
