Adele Stolte (born October 12, 1932 in Sperenberg ) is a German oratorio and concert singer ( soprano ).

Adele Stolte first attended school in Lübeck , later in Potsdam , where her father Conrad Stolte became superintendent and took over the pastor's office at the Friedenskirche . She received musical support from Karl Landgrebe and began private singing studies with Anneliese Buschmann in Rostock in 1952. In 1953 she married the church musician Wolfram Iwer (1928–2020). In the following years she developed an increasing concert activity in the GDR and beyond. In 1958 the first radio recordings were made with the Thomanerchor Leipzig and in 1960 the first recordings were made, which were followed by numerous others. a. as a soloist in Bach cantatas under Erhard Mauersberger . In the early 1960s she was involved in the recording of important works by Heinrich Schütz by the Westphalian Kantorei under the direction of Wilhelm Ehmann , such as the musical exequies and the St. John Passion in 1960, the small sacred concerts 1963–1966 and the Psalms of David 1966, early examples historically informed performance practice . Adele Stolte, whose repertoire not only focuses on baroque music but also includes contemporary works, received a number of awards, including the Edison Music Prize in 1962 and the GDR Art Prize in 1966 . In 2007 she was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany .
