Adiel Arthur Paananen (born January 3, 1897 in Saarijärvi , † July 25, 1968 in Saarijärvi) was a Finnish cross-country skier .

Career

Paananen, who started for the Saarijärvi Pullistus, took second place at the Lahti Ski Games in 1927 over 30 km and over 50 km. In the same year he also became Finnish champion over 60 km. The following year he started the 50 km run at the Winter Olympics in St. Moritz , which he ended prematurely. In March 1928 he took third place over 50 km at the Lahti Ski Games. In 1929 he was again runner-up over 30 km at the Lahti Ski Games. He also came third over 50 km and won the Finnish championships over 50 km. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 1930 , he won the bronze medal over 50 km. He also achieved 13th place over 18 km there. In March 1931 he ran again in third place over 50 km at the Lahti Ski Games.
