Adil Karaismailoğlu

Adil Karaismailoğlu (born May 19, 1969 in Trabzon ) is a Turkish mechanical engineer and has been Turkey's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure since March 2020 .

Life

Karaismailoğlu studied mechanical engineering at Karadeniz Teknik Üniversitesi after completing his school education in Trabzon , and obtained his master’s degree at Bahçeşehir Üniversitesi . From 1995 he was employed by the transport coordination of the city ​​of Istanbul and three years later switched to İETT , where he initially worked as an engineer and later in higher management positions. In 2002 he became deputy head of interlocking and traffic telematics for the city of Istanbul. Seven years later, Karaismailoğlu was appointed head of transport coordination and, in 2014, of the city's entire transport system. From 2016 he worked for the state housing authority TOKİ and from 2018 as assistant to the general secretary of the Istanbul mayor. Karaismailoğlu resigned from the latter position when Ekrem İmamoğlu was (again) elected mayor of the city in July 2019. On September 20, 2019, he was introduced as Deputy Minister for Transport and Infrastructure. In March of the following year he replaced Mehmet Cahit Turhan as that same minister.

He is married and has two children.
