The Adler Brau GbR Wiernsheim is a family brewery, located in the Württemberg Wiernsheim . It is a brewery in the Enzkreis and brews specialty beers and special editions using traditional methods with historical equipment such as a brewing pan from 1894.

history

In 1865 the brewer Jakob Pflüger founded the Adler brewery on the site of a much older brewery in the abandoned monastery complex in the center of Wiernsheim. On May 31, 1867, he received a court summons as a debtor. Several changes of ownership of the brewery followed until 1905.

On September 29, 1905, the Adler brewery was acquired by master brewer Carl Jentzsch and operated as a brewery with an inn. After his death in 1925, his wife Ida continued the business until it was taken over by his son, master brewer Richard Jentzsch, in 1938. In the following years he produced and sold his beers under the brand name Jentsch beer . At that time, the ice for cooling was still made in its own ponds such as the Waidelichsee in the neighboring municipality of Wurmberg and transported to the brewery.

After the Second World War , the Adlerbrauerei's brewery was largely destroyed and was subsequently rebuilt on top of the existing beer cellars in nearby Lindenrain. The main building opposite the town hall was given to the community. Around 1955, the eagle logo , which had long been used as a trademark , was expanded to include a barrel in the claws. In 1960 Richard Jentzsch died and the brewery was continued by his wife Else and their son, master brewer Rolf Jentzsch. He married Anita Hokenmeier in 1969, who then also took on tasks in the company. At the time, the company operated under the name of Adlerbrauerei Jentzsch, owned by Rolf Jentzsch. The name was later changed to Adler-Bräu, the logo was modernized and the addition since 1905 became 1865 . After completing their master brewer training, the fourth generation joined the family business with their daughter Ramona Jentzsch-Volk and son-in-law Robert Volk. In 1997 Ramona Jentzsch-Volk and Robert Volk became GbR owners. In 2005 Leopold Volk was the youngest master brewer ever to pass the master craftsman's examination and joined the company. In 2017 his son Conrad (plant mechanic / SHK) also came to the brewery and began a second professional training there as a brewer and maltster. Today the company is a supplier of beer specialties and traditional old beers. At the beginning of 2010 a water pipe burst damaged parts of the plant. This was renovated and in 2014 a new filling plant was added. In 2018, Adler-Bräu began to renovate the storage cellar.

In 2017 the Adler-Bräu was part of the 90-minute TV documentary Breweries in the Southwest produced by SWR . In the same year, a beer was brewed for the Day of the Regions from overgrown Lienzinger hops from the hop gardens that were formerly widespread in the region and were abandoned in the middle of the 20th century. In 2018, large-format chiaroscuro -style portraits on canvas by photographer Daniela Jakob with motifs relating to the Adler-Bräu were produced and published as part of the BierSamtMensch exhibition in the Adler-Brauerei.

Companies

The Adler-Bräu is a family business in the fifth generation. The company brews and sells seven different beers as well as special editions and festival beers through direct sales . Beer seminars and tours are also offered. It is brewed according to old, traditional methods in a directly fired copper brew kettle from 1894. The clarification and fermentation take place openly. A cooling ship with a lees sack and a sprinkler cooler are used to cool the wort . According to the manufacturer, all beers are untreated, freshly bottled and have a best- before date of a maximum of 3 months. According to the company's own information, production is currently around 1000 hectoliters per year.

Adler-Bräu is a member of the German Brewers Association and the Association of Private Breweries .
